With the advance of the internet, the fake news increases potentially. The “gossips” we had in the past, nowadays have much more power due to the speed of information spread online.
The technology allowed people to create more content, easily. They can use their smartphone to do pretty much everything such as write texts, take pictures and edit them, create videos, animations and much more. So, with this facility, everyone is capable to produce content expressing their opinion about different topics and spread them on social media and on their personal network.
People are all the time connected online with others and receive millions of texts, documents, news, videos, pictures and many archives from different parts of the world, which sometimes may not be true. Frequently, individuals who are not experts in certain subjects, create content with their personal opinions passing on the idea that they are great understanders, which makes other people believe and spread this content more and more.
If we stop and analyze our social media apps for one day, we can surely find at least one fake message. The problem is that many people don’t check the veracity of the information before passing them on.
Fake news are more present than ever and it can go beyond we can imagine. They are not just the ones that we can easily identify, but they can be more professional than we think. For example, with some pieces of code, videos can be easily edited and the person who is speaking can be replaced by another one, keeping the same facial expressions, the speech structure and even using the new person’s voice.
In the video below you will see one simple demonstration we’ve created using celebrities. In this case we replaced the actor Leonardo di Caprio in one of his speeches, after winning the Oscar.

This serious problem is affecting the whole world, but it gets even worse when we hear fake news, exaggerated numbers and incorrect instructions about how to prevent infections and save lives. So, as a technology company, we care about our team, partners, customers and society. For this reason, we warn them to always check the veracity of the facts and be responsible about all information shared.
